This year is my year—I’m 42 years old, and we all know what that means. I have the answer to life. So I have it pretty good. But this could all end in after March 2022, when I level up and turn 43.
That’s why I decided to finally get this thing going.
What is this “thing” and what do I mean with “get it going”?
The thing: A place where professional aunts can go to celebrate their nephews and nieces—the good, the bad, and the weird. More specifically:
- Your go-to source for stories, anecdotes, tips on how to ace this pro aunt gig, and most importantly, cute photos (with the kids’ permission, of course).
- A platform to share your own experiences.
- Eventually, a place where you can find inside information about the cool stuff — gifts for the kids and yourself! — that will help you rack up aunt cred.
But wait…what is a professional aunt anyway?
Dictionary.com defines an aunt:
/ant,änt/
the sister of one’s father or mother or the wife of one’s uncle.
OR
an unrelated older woman friend, especially of a child.
I like to think of a professional aunt as an aunt who has made a career out of being a friend to their nephews and/or nieces.
Fast forward…
…it’s now 2023, and I am 44. 😱
But the dream of this ProAunt is still alive, so I’m picking up where I left things a couple of years ago and finally working on this site.
I hope you join me as I work to build a place where professional aunts of all shapes, sizes, colors (and whatever else) can come together.
